Students move through workshops, discussions, and hands-on activities led by TFFJ staff, partners, and youth leaders. They explore hydroponics, nutrition, advocacy, and community action. They present their own projects, learn from peers across other schools, and take part in activities that connect science, culture, and leadership.
Teens for Food Justice (TFFJ) invites all students from campuses with TFFJ farms to create a design for the official T-shirt for this year’s Student Leadership Conference (SLC). Your design could appear on the official T-shirt, event signage, and other conference swag at one of TFFJ’s biggest events of the year.
On May 1, Teens for Food Justice held its annual Student Leadership Conference at West End Labs in Manhattan. 122 students from 11 New York City schools joined teachers, farmer-educators, partners, board members, volunteers, and staff, 184 attendees in total, for a full day of storytelling, skill-building, and civic learning. This year’s theme, Roots of Power, centered student agency as the foundation of food system change.
For the second year in a row, Teens for Food Justice invited students across its network to shape the visual identity of the Student Leadership Conference through a T-shirt design contest. This year, the winners were chosen by the people who know the conference best: TFFJ alumni.
