Celebrating the Winners of the 2025 SLC T-Shirt Design Contest

March 27, 2025

We’re so excited to announce the winners of our first-ever T-Shirt Design Competition for the 2025 Student Leadership Conference!

Students across the network submitted powerful, creative designs that captured this year’s theme: Seeds to Solutions. Each entry reflected a deep connection to sustainability, food justice, and the role of youth leadership in building a better future.

After careful review, we’ve selected three finalists whose designs stood out—and one winning design that truly captured the spirit of this year’s SLC.

🥇 1st Place: Taskina J.

1st place winner of the 2025 SLC T-Shirt Design Contest

The Scholars Academy | 11th Grade
Prize: $100 Gift Card + Her Design Becomes part of the 2025 SLC Logo

Taskina’s design is now part of the official logo for the 2025 Student Leadership Conference—and for good reason. Her artwork features a plant growing tall from a small SRC tower, its leaves connecting buildings across a cityscape.

In the design, you can see a large plant coming from a smaller SRC tower, reaching to the sky. the leaves of the plant lead to the surrounding buildings, connecting all of them to each other with the help of the plant. This represents how hydroponic farming not only brought communities together but provides communities with a sustainable food source, aiding to solve problems caused by food deserts.,” Taskina shared.

Her concept beautifully bridges the personal, local, and systemic. It’s a visual story about how small actions—like growing a single plant—can scale into real solutions. Taskina understood the assignment and brought it to life with clarity, care, and a sense of vision we couldn’t ignore. We’re proud to feature her work as the face of this year’s SLC.

🥈 2nd Place: Yoshuel P.

2nd place winner of the 2025 SLC T-Shirt Design Contest

MLK Jr. High School of Law, Advocacy, and Community Justice | 12th Grade
Prize: $50 Gift Card

Yoshuel’s design centers on growth and transformation.

From the seed in the drawing, it’s picking up the solution that came from it.”

His piece speaks to the power of change: the idea that within every challenge is the potential for a solution, ready to grow if given the right care and intention.

🥉 3rd Place: Alexia Q.

3rd place winner of the 2025 SLC T-Shirt Design Contest

MLK Jr. High School of Law, Advocacy, and Community Justice | 12th Grade
Prize: $50 Gift Card

Alexia’s vibrant, emotional design blended environmental advocacy with human action.

I interpreted the prompt seeds to solutions as humans helping out what also grows and gives us life. We are taking for granted our gardens, rain forests, farms and everything in between. I try to use the idea of global warning into the elements used in my drawing which is the seed that is growing because of the encouragement of people who care for our ecosystem. the different colors show all our emotions towards mother earth. my artwork is a symbol of determination and an inspiration to nourish and take care of our planet and create a solution.

Her use of color and symbolism shows a deep emotional connection to the Earth and our shared responsibility to protect it.

We’re so proud of all three finalists for their artistic talent, creative thinking, and powerful messages. Their designs reflect the heart of what this conference is about—student voices leading the way toward sustainable, just solutions.

Congratulations again to Taskina, Yoshuel, and Alexia!

We will soon reveal the official design for the 2025 SLC logo—stay tuned!
