2025 Student Leadership Conference: T-SHIRT DESIGN CONTEST

January 9, 2025

Calling All NYC TFFJ Student Artists!

Are you ready to showcase your artistic talent and passion for food justice? Teens for Food Justice (TFFJ) is inviting all NYC students from our campuses to submit their original designs for a chance to be featured on t-shirts and swag at our annual Student Leadership Conference (SLC) in Spring 2025. This is your opportunity to shine as a creative leader and help inspire others with your vision!

This Year’s Theme: From Seeds to Solutions

The theme celebrates how small actions, like planting a single seed, can lead to massive impacts—creating a more sustainable, fair, and healthy food system. Show us how your design reflects TFFJ’s mission of promoting food justice, sustainable practices, and youth empowerment.

What We’re Looking For

Your design should:

  • Reflect TFFJ’s Core Values: Food equity, hydroponic farming, community, sustainability, and youth leadership.
  • Be Bold and Inspiring: Use vibrant, eye-catching visuals that align with our mission.
  • Follow These Tips:
    • Avoid excessive text; let your art speak for itself.
    • Use 1-5 solid colors with thick lines (10+ points) and simple shapes.
    • Avoid photos and gradients; stick to flat, solid designs.
    • Make it scalable—it’ll look awesome on the back of a t-shirt!
  • Do’s and Don’ts:

Avoid low-resolution images (left side). Create high-resolution images (right side).
(Vector files are ideal!)

TFFJ Spotlight: Meghan Groome, PhD, TFFJ’s New CEO

A Mission That Hits Home |

For Meghan Groome, stepping into the role of CEO at Teens for Food Justice is more than a career milestone—it’s part of a deeply personal lifelong journey. Growing up as someone who experienced food insecurity has guided a lifelong commitment to food justice, and, in what might be unexpected ways, even shaped her leadership philosophy. Her lived experience is part of what drives her to prioritize dignity, inclusion, and belonging in her decision-making– because she understands the importance of young people and families having agency, access, and a voice in shaping their own food systems.
