Matthew Horgan

STEM Programming & School Partnership Manager

Matthew began as a mentor with Teens for Food Justice’s after-school program, was later hired as a part-time curriculum writer, and now works on developing a STEM curriculum around urban farming, hydroponics, and environmental sustainability. He grew up in Rockaway Beach, NYC, and he graduated from SUNY Binghamton University with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Environmental Studies and St. Edward’s University with a Professional Science Master’s degree in Environmental Management and Sustainable Development. His studies in the environmental field brought him to Upstate New York, Texas, France, Vermont, and Costa Rica. He maintains an indoor deep water culture hydroponic garden at home and is passionate about demonstrating all of the benefits that growing food at home brings with it. He has been using his blog (SustainEveryone.com) to investigate the social, political, and economic systems that produce environmental injustices across our communities and to explore potential solutions to create a more sustainable and equitable food system.
