Past President, Rip Van

Jim has been a consumer products industry leader for over 20 years.  His most recent role was as President of Rip Van, a fast-growing healthy snack company.  During his tenure, Rip Van scaled 10X in total sales, expanded its range from a single product line to six and grew to a cross functional team of 50 people.

Prior to Rip Van, Jim was the EVP of Sales and Marketing at Schuman Cheese, where he led the retail expansion of its Whisps brand until its 2019 spin-off as an independent company.  Jim was the General Manager at Enjoy Life Foods and held a variety of category leadership, brand marketing and sales roles at Mondelez International, Kraft and Nabisco.

Before entering the business world, Jim worked in public service as a legislative aide on Capitol Hill and as a social worker for Covenant House.  He has been a volunteer and advisory board member for Covenant House, the University of North Carolina, the National Advertising Review Board, St. Peter Claver Church and other organizations.

Jim received his BA in Religion and Government from the College of William & Mary and his MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
